Detached House paiania
The 180 sq. m ground-floor detached house was designed for a family of five on a compact plot in Paiania, Attica. Situated in a quiet area removed from the urban fabric, the residence is intended as the family’s primary home. This project presented unique challenges, including balancing the spatial needs of a large family with the constraints of a small plot and accommodating underground parking beneath the residence. To address these challenges, the design ensured clear and functional access to the residence from street level. The main entrance was carefully positioned away from the plot’s lateral boundary and given prominence both morphologically and spatially. A distinctive iron structure was installed above the entrance, forming a perforated gallery that makes the entry visible from the fence gate. The entrance itself was further highlighted with a wooden cladding around its perimeter, distinguishing it from surrounding elements and creating a focal point. The house’s architectural identity is defined by a prominent black beam that spans the building’s façade. This feature emphasizes the key living areas, including the kitchen, living room, and entrance. Linear recessed lighting runs parallel to the beam, enhancing its visual impact and integrating it seamlessly into the design. At the rear of the house, a thoughtful approach was taken to manage proximity to the plot’s boundaries. Glass structures frame the back façade, while concrete blinds align with the side boundaries, ensuring a cohesive and defined appearance. These elements prevent the rear aspect from feeling exposed and create a solid yet visually balanced structure. Despite the close proximity to the boundaries, the design maintains a clear delineation of the house within the plot, ensuring privacy and structural coherence. The designID team successfully achieved a design that balances compactness with openness. The residence integrates seamlessly with its natural surroundings, offering both functionality and aesthetic continuity, ensuring a harmonious living environment for the family.
